Matthew Perry's Malibu Home

Its a Sunday morning and as I sit here and write this post I am sitting outside soaking up the sunshine, recovering from having my appendix operation. I am dreaming of being somewhere warm and balmy away from the hustle of work and home life; somewhere I could sit and unwind without a care in the world. At this  very moment, I come across the Malibu home of Matthew Perry - Amazing!  This stunner has just gone on the market for a cool $12.5 million and is the epitome of beach house living. My bags are packed and I am ready to move into this Malibu dream home (could someone just find me a few spare million)!

Wallpapered Ceilings

While this trend is nothing new, we can’t get enough of this design trick that adds an element of surprise.

Wallpaper is not just for walls – adding colour and pattern to your ceiling will instantly enliven your space! Wallpapered ceilings draw the eye up and gives the illusion of height - plus they are just down right fun!

Moody charcoal walls compliment this gorgeous patterned ceiling

Bold black and white wallpapered ceiling

Yellow and white stripes create a striking contrast against the black feature wall in this children's room

Fabulous freestanding baths

Is there nothing more glamorous than a freestanding bath? If you have the space in your bathroom then a freestanding bath can add a certain wow-factor and touch of luxury to your space. We have been doing a lot of bathroom designs lately and have noticed a lot of our clients wanting to incorporate free standing baths into their bathrooms and its easy to see why – they really do look great!

When contemplating a freestanding bath there are a few things to consider, with the following the two most important in our opinion.

Freestanding baths look wonderful when set into the right resign. Ideally they should be in the centre of the room, but at the very least set far enough off a wall. If set too close to a call or corner they become almost impossible to clean behind and can look ‘squashed’.  Secondly, freestanding baths are more expensive then built-in baths so this needs to be taken into consideration when contemplating your budget.

The beauty of freestanding baths is that they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, allowing them to be incorporated into a multitude of bathroom styles. Elegant claw-foot baths are the perfect addition to a more classic style bathroom, while a modern egg-shape bath adds a contemporary element to a more current bathroom.

No matter which style you choose, a freestanding bath will add a touch of luxury to your bathroom.

6 ways to incorporate mirror into your home

Mirrors are a chic design element and are the perfect addition to just about any space. They can do wonders - from creating the illusion of space, reflecting light and illuminating dark corners to adding elegance and drama to a room. Mirrors come in all shapes and sizes

Here are 6 ways to decorate with mirrors:

1) A mirror wall creates an illusion of space and can really open up a small space

2) A mirror splashback adds glamour to the kitchen

3) Create a gallery wall by hanging up a collection of mirrors instead of art. A perfect design solution for an empty wall - particularly in hallways and entrances

4) Mirrored furniture is yet another way you can incorporate mirror into your interiors and is a great option if you are short of wall space

5) Over-sized or grand scale mirrors add drama to a room. Get the look by leaning the mirror against the wall as opposed to hanging

6) Mirrored tiles act like more of an art piece in this chic bathroom. Not for the faint hearted these lovely mirror tiles are a real show piece

Make a statement with stripes

There is nothing more classic or timeless when it comes to interiors than a black and white stripe. This stylish combination is the perfect way to add a touch of 'boldness' to any interior. Stripes (horizontal or vertical) on walls convey high impact and drama and create a real statement. Entrances, hallways and powder rooms are ideal spaces for this gallant look.  For those not quite so brave but who still want to impart a touch of stripes into their home, then rugs and cushions are the perfect avenue.

Here are some lust worthy interiors who have hit the mark.

Faking it

I have always been a strong advocate for acquiring 'the real thing' when it comes to design. Many times I have advised clients to hold off until they could either afford or source an original product rather than a cheap fake.

However, the latest breed of wallpapers are slowly convincing me to think otherwise. These exquisite wallpapers add high end drama without the expense. Whether you want to experiment with period features such as pressed tin or intricate ironwork or try something a little more modern such as concrete there is an option to suit all tastes. Here are some of Wink and Co's favourites.

Exposed Brick

Pressed Tin
